Resource: The Essentials for Moving Into College

Late August is a time when parents are moving their kids into their first dorm room or shared housing.  David Furst of WNYC speaks with Wirecutter senior staff writer and a former RA at college, Jackie Reeve, about move in essentials as well as some stuff you can leave at home.  Wirecutter tested items for freshman college students. Additionally, callers offered suggestions as well.  Here is the link to the broadcast. https://www.wnyc.org/story/essentials-moving-college/

In July 2020, the CWC hosted our first zoom in our series, College in the COVID Landscape. The information from Prepping for College is relevant today. The webinar covered preparing your Freshman for college.  Speakers included attorney Rafael Betancourt, of Triarsi, Betancourt, Wukovits & Dugan, LLC. (https://www.tbwdlaw.com/) who discussed Power of Attorney, Guardianship, HIPAA and other legal matters pertaining to sending your adult child away from home.  A panel of ‘expert’ parents discussed preparation from self-defense classes to Twin XL sheets and bed bug mattress covers.
